課程概述 |
本華語課程乃「初級一」課程，適合無中文基礎的初級學習者選讀，課程所使用的教材為《實用視聽華語一》(第一課~第九課)。
This course ”General Chinese Language Course (I) Elementary I” is designed for students who are in the beginning level at NTU or have not learned Chinese before. The textbook used in class is Practical Audio- Visual Chinese (I) Lesson1-9).

課程目標 |
1. 習得日常生活的基本語言能力及華語語言知識。
2. 學生能讀寫正體字，且聽、說、讀、寫四項技能皆能達到各課標準。
This class is designed to help students acquire Knowledge of spoken and written Chinese and to assist them in gaining proficiency and accuracy using these skills in real-life situations.
The curriculum emphasizes the development of the competency of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. After this semester, students will be able to know how to read and write traditional characters, and reach the goal of every chapter.

課程要求 |
1. 上課時學生不說英文或其他非中文語言。
Use Chinese exclusively in class. Other languages are not allowed.
2. 請勿遲到、早退。遲到二十分該堂課視為缺席。
Attend the class on time. Don’t leave class earlier than scheduled time. If you are over 20 minutes late, that hour will be considered absent.
3. 不能來上課請寫e-mail給老師。
Inform the teacher by email in advance if you are unable to attend the class.
4. 上課時不能使用手機、電腦等電子產品。
Do not use any electronic devices (cell phone, laptop, Ipad…..) in class.
5. 上課時學生不該做其他事情，如寫功課、聊天、睡覺等與課程進行無關的事。需參與課堂活動，聽老師及同學的發言和討論。
Students should not write homework or do other things that are not related to the course, such as chatting with classmates or sleeping during class hour. It’s essential to participate in the classroom activity and class discussion.
6. 上課時可以喝水、喝飲料，但不能吃東西。
No food in class, but drinking water or soft drinks is allowed in class.
7. 準時繳交作業。遲交的作業不收。
Hand in assignments on time. Late submission will not be accepted.
8. 違反以上規定皆會影響學期成績。違反一次規定就扣平時表現成績一分。
You will lose one point of scores of Attendance and Performance each time for violation of class regulations.

出席Attendance |
20% |
(1) 每堂課遲到或早退20分鐘以上，即算缺席一小時。
Late for class more than 20 minutes or leave class 20 minutes earlier than scheduled time will be regarded as one-hour absence.
(2) 若缺席時數在6小時(含)以下，教師不扣分。6小時以上，每小時扣總分1分。若有事無法上課，請先寫信告訴老師。
Students who are absent within 6 hours ,including the absence that late for class or leave class 30 minutes than scheduled from class will not lose any point. From the 7th hour, students will lose one point per hour. Inform the teacher by email in advance if you are unable to attend the class.

課堂參與Participation and Performance |
20% |
學生必須課前預習、課後複習，課堂表現的成績將視學生本身的學習情形以及是否積極參與課堂活動而定。學生應參與課堂活動，不做其他不相關的事，並遵守課堂規定，若有違反規定之情況，一次扣一分。
You are expected to preview the materials before class, and review after class on a daily basis. Class performance grade includes your effort to speak in Chinese and active participation in class. Students should participate in the classroom activity and not doing other things unrelated to the course. Students will lose one point each time for violation of class regulations.

作業成績Homework |
15% |
作業包括中國字習寫練習及其他強化能力的作業。作業需於老師指定日內交回，晚交不收也不計分。(在合理情形下，學生一學期有兩次缺交的機會。)
Homework includes Chinese character practice and some other assignments. All assignments have to be handed in on time, late submission will not be accepted and students won’t get any point. (The students can miss the homework with a legitimate excuse 2 times per semester.)

平時考成績Quizzes |
15% |
有聽寫考試或其他複習小考，如因故而沒參加考試的，不能補考。
The quizzes include the dictation or some other review tests. No make-up quiz provided.

期中考試Mid-term exam |
15% |
期中考將於指定日期舉行。如果真有無法避免的因素及理由導致不能參加考試，必須提前告訴老師並徵求老師的同意才能擇期補考，否則將以零分計算。
The mid-term exam will be given only on the assigned days. If the student cannot attend the exam due to unavoidable reason, please tell the teacher and get the permission in advance, otherwise the grade will be considered as zero. |

期末考試Final exam |
15% |
期末考將於指定日期舉行。如果真有無法避免的因素及理由導致不能參加考試，必須提前告訴老師並徵求老師的同意才能擇期補考，否則將以零分計算。
The final exam will be given only on the assigned days. If the student cannot attend the exam due to unavoidable reason, please tell the teacher and get the permission in advance, otherwise the grade will be considered as zero. |
